Motors
What are the different types of Motors?
AC Motors (Alternating Current)
Synchronous Motors:
Excited Synchronous Motor: Requires a separate DC supply for the rotor.
Reluctance Motor: Uses magnetic reluctance to generate torque.
Hysteresis Motor: Utilizes hysteresis in the rotor material for smooth operation.
Asynchronous (Induction) Motors:
Squirrel Cage Induction Motor: Commonly used due to its simplicity and durability
Slip Ring (Wound Rotor) Induction Motor: Allows for control of the rotor resistance
DC Motors (Direct Current)
Brushed DC Motors:
Series Wound DC Motor: High starting torque, used in traction applications.
Shunt Wound DC Motor: Constant speed, used in applications requiring stable speed.
Compound Wound DC Motor: Combines series and shunt characteristics.
Brushless DC Motors:
Permanent Magnet DC Motor (PMDC): Uses permanent magnets for the rotor.
Coreless or Ironless DC Motors: Lightweight and efficient
EC Motors (Electronically Commutated)
Energy Efficiency: EC motors consume less power compared to traditional AC motors, making them ideal for HVAC systems and industrial applications.
Brushless Design: Unlike conventional DC motors, EC motors use electronic commutation instead of carbon brushes, reducing wear and maintenance.
Integrated Electronics: They have built-in controllers that optimize performance and allow for variable speed control.
Compact & Versatile: EC motors are commonly used in fans, pumps, refrigeration systems, and ventilation units

Why Choose E. Preston?
Since our inception in 1980, our business focus has been on providing two things: a reputation for outstanding customer service, and an unbeatable range and stock of electrical and electronic components.
We feel we have achieved that at E Preston, and that probably explains our company growth over the years. We do not want to become complacent though, and we always work hard to exceed customers’ expectations when they deal with us, if we can.
Our service is unashamedly a little old fashioned, ensuring we follow up on promises to customers, and phoning back when we said we were going to. We also do our best to ensure the customer receives their order next day. You can also talk to us about flexible payment terms, if needed.
Please contact us if you need technical assistance about them or any of our products – our team of expert operatives will be happy to help.
E-T-A Power relays are reliable problem solvers when it comes to switching high currents. Particularly construction machinery, agricultural vehicles as well as buses and trucks, floor-borne vehicles and other special vehicles (e.g. fire brigades) often have connected large electrical loads. In these applications, power relays disconnect the entire on-board electrical system from the battery.
Depending on the application, E-T-A offers purely electro-mechanical relays, solid state relays and also a hybrid design consisting of an electro-mechanical switching system with an intelligent electronic control unit.
Key Product Lines & Features
EPR10 Solid-State Relays: Designed for high continuous currents (up to 200A at 24VDC), requiring 80% less space than traditional alternatives and eliminating the need for separate heat sinks
HPR10 Hybrid Relays: Combine robust mechanical, bistable switching with intelligent electronic controls, enabling features like on/off delays and voltage monitoring
MPR10/MPR20 Mechanical Relays: Bistable (MPR10) or monostable (MPR20) relays designed for high current switching with low power consumption
Key Advantages
Efficiency: Very low holding current reduces power consumption.
Durability: High resistance to environmental factors (IP57 rated for some models).
Maintenance: Long service life with reduced maintenance costs due to solid-state technology.
Functionality: Options for built-in overcurrent, short-circuit, and thermal load protection.

Schurter 4770: Dual Block Outlet 16A with Snap-in Mounting
4770: Dual Block Outlet 16A
IEC 60320 type J 16 A, Dual
Available in black, white or grey
Snap-in version front side
The demand for higher power density in data centers and industrial environments is constantly growing. Schurter is responding to this development with the new 4770 dual block outlet, which is designed for a rated current of 16 A and optimized specifically for use in power distribution units (PDUs). The 4770 combines a robust design with easy installation.
Thanks to its dual block configuration, the outlet can be integrated into power distribution units (PDUs) in a space-saving manner. The proven snap-in mounting system ensures quick and secure installation and reduces installation effort.
The 4770 outlet is available in black, gray, or white, offering flexible design options for different applications (multi-phase systems). Various connection options (standard: QC 6.3 mm; QC 4.8 mm; solder connections, and PCB mounting available on request) allow easy adaptation to different wiring concepts. VDE, UL, and CCC certifications ensure international compliance and a high level of safety and reliability.
The dual outlet is designed for currents of up to 16 A at 250 VAC according to IEC and 20 A at 250 VAC according to UL. It is designed for an operating temperature range of –25 °C to +70 °C. Installation is via snap-in mounting (standard: wall thicknesses 1.2 mm and 1.5 mm, 0.8 mm to 3.0 mm on request).
The 4770 dual outlet is ideal for use in data centers, industrial plants, IoT infrastructures, and IT as well as telecommunication systems. In other words, wherever compact and powerful power distribution is required.
