Switchgear and Control Gear

What is Switchgear and Control Gear?

Switchgear is a collective term for electrical disconnect switches, circuit breakers and fuses that ensure that electrical equipment is controlled, isolated and protected. Generally speaking, low, medium and high voltage switchgear is employed in power distribution applications. Control gear that is low or medium voltage is generally used in industrial applications where electrical equipment – particularly electric motors - needs to be protected from earth faults, surges and short circuits. It also provides simple control functions such as stop/start and building up motor speed.

What Do We Supply?

Eaton Moeller Series - SPPVT2/T12 xPole Surge Protection

Image
SPPVT Pic

The plug-in surge arresters SPPVT2 and SPPVT12 are developed especially for photovoltaic applications. They protect the installations against transient overvoltages that can be induced by direct or indirect lightning strikes.

SPPVT12: Homes with rooftop solar PV installations represent an additional vulnerability that requires surge protection. Usually this requires Type 1/2 combinations, for DC protection - based on whether the building has also a requirement for an external lightning protection system. SPPVT12 is developed especially for photovoltaic applications and protects the installations against transient overvoltages induced by direct lightning strikes.

SPPVT2: Type 2 PV surge protection is required, when there is no risk for direct lightning strikes but indirect surges can occur. SPPVT2 protects the inverter and installations against transient overvoltage due to switching and indirect lightning strikes.

These surge arresters are suitable for a wide range of surge protection in a large number of systems.

E-T-A Timer Relays

Image

Timer relays are especially suitable for the use in passenger cars, trucks, buses as well as construction machinery and emergency vehicles. They control pumps, valves or motors, which are meant to overtravel or stay open for a defined period of time. They equally control the co-ordinated, sequential switch-on of loads to avoid load peaks (e.g. with fans).

E-T-A timer relays are available for DC 12 V and DC 24 V applications and are suitable for standard automotive relay sockets to ISO 7588.
