Finder’s 77 Series “single pole” solid state relays are now available in eight new versions, with a 30A current rating to complement the existing 5A models.
With distinct models for zero-voltage and instantaneous switch-on, the former is particularly suited for lighting control where zero-voltage switching can significantly reduce high inrush currents. Instantaneous switch-on provides near instant switching for high speed operation and simultaneous switching in multi-phase circuits, such as three phase motors.
The very high inrush current capability of 520A (10ms) ensures reliability over a long life in a wide range of applications, particularly the switching of lighting where power factor compensation and electronic ballasts have historically been problematic – but it is also ideal for the control of heating, solenoids and motors.
In 22.5mm housing incorporating the heat sink and designed for 35mm rail mounting, the relays are ideal for use in control panels and cabinets in industrial and commercial applications.
Capable of switching single phase motors up to 2.5kW or lamp loads up to 6000W, and with the benefit of silent, high speed switching, they lend themselves to use in a host of environments. Input voltages of 230Vac and 24Vdc.

With increasing health and safety demands and the need to protect valuable equipment, Finder’s new 70 Series modular rail-mounted monitoring relays provide a solution by offering maximum flexibility in monitoring a range of electrical supply parameters, in compact, easy to adjust units. For example, machine safety legislation (IEC/EN/BS60204-1) requires that portable or semi-portable motor-driven equipment be prevented from starting up in the wrong direction should the local phases be reversed, and a phase reversal monitoring relay can provide for that.
Finder’s new relays are ideal for monitoring supplies to machinery, equipment, and installations where failure or variation outside acceptable limits may result in damage to equipment, danger to personnel, or disruption to critical processes or procedures. Featuring ‘positive safety logic,’ the 70 Series will ensure that any failure mode results in the output relay assuming its de-energized position. With a selectable fault memory (lock-out), safety is increased by preventing uncontrolled restarting of equipment.
With a wide range of adjustments to maximize application flexibility, the monitoring relays feature two or three colour LED indicators for immediate visual indication of supply status. The functions and values are programmable from the front face, simplifying set-up and adjustment.
Within the 70 Series range are units designed to monitor single and 3-phase supplies for under-voltage, over-voltage, voltage within set limits, and for neutral loss, phase loss, phase rotation and asymmetry. The four monitoring relays in the 70 Series range (three of which are multifunctional) offer a selection of voltage limits between 170 – 270 for single phase, and 300– 480 for three-phase supplies, a switch off delay time between 0.5 – 60 seconds, and 4 – 25% variation of phase asymmetry. The modules are available in 17.mm or 35mm, dependent on type.

The revolutionary SmartWire-DT system from Eaton’s Electrical Sector, which virtually eliminates the need for conventional control wiring in panels and on machines, is now even more versatile and convenient. This follows the addition of devices with integral SmartWire-DT connectivity to two key product ranges – easy800 control relays and PKE motor-protection circuit breakers.
In many applications, easy800 programmable control relays with SmartWire-DT make it possible to implement sophisticated control systems without the need to use programmable controllers (PLCs), which means big savings in costs and complexity. In addition, Eaton’s easySoft-Pro software makes easy800 relays simple to program, even for users who have no specialist programming knowledge or experience.
The new easy800 relays are suitable for applications with up to 320 I/O and are programmed using straightforward and well-known ladder diagram techniques. The easySoft-Pro programming software now includes SmartWire Assist to configure external devices, allowing control systems that incorporate the new relays to be drawn, configured, programmed and tested using just this one intuitive software package.
Equally well suited for use in control systems based on easy800 relays, and those based on conventional PLCs, PKE motor-protection circuit breakers with SmartWire-DT allow users to monitor the operation of their motors in detail and in real time. The PKE units can report via the SmartWire-DT connection a wide range of operating parameters that include motor current, motor fault conditions and overload status. This is achieved without the need for additional hardware like current transformers and specialist relays, which are not only costly to buy, but are also inconvenient to fit and wire.
A key benefit of the information supplied by PKE units with SmartWire-DT connectivity is that, in many cases, it allows developing problems to be identified and addressed before a motor trip occurs, thereby greatly reducing downtime and costly production losses.
SmartWire-DT from Eaton is a powerful and versatile communications system that enables switching and control devices, such as contactors, circuit breakers and pushbuttons, as well as analogue I/O devices, to be connected quickly and simply using pre-fabricated plug-in cables. This saves time in building and testing control systems, as well as virtually eliminating the risk of wiring errors while greatly increasing the ease with which future modifications can be made.

For installations needing duplicate equipment sets, for reasons of operational security or to meet peak loading demands, Finder has introduced a flexible multi-function priority change relay, providing convenient control of main and secondary systems. Suiting for example, pumping or refrigeration applications, the 72.42 relay has been designed to alternate the duty of two sets of equipment to ensure even wear over time.
The relay can be configured to alternate the output duty either on successive applications of the supply voltage or via an independent input control signal. The 72.42 relay also provides a second input enabling both outputs to be forced on in response to a peak demand or an alarm signal.
To minimise any switch-on current surge, the 72.42 relay incorporates an adjustable output delay timer, supporting for example the staggering of pump motor starts. In addition, where maintenance of either equipment set is needed, the relay will ensure that only the healthy equipment set is made available.
Available in 24V and 110V to 240V AC/DC versions, the 72.42 relay supports a wide supply range and with two independent NO output contacts rated at 12A, 250VAC, is capable of directly switching single phase motor loads up to 0.55kW. Output status is shown by dual LED indication.
Finder’s priority change relay is provided in a 35mm wide housing and is designed for 35mm rail mounting (EN60715). The relay terminals are screw type and the unit’s protection category is IP20.

With a host of design features to improve both reliability and efficiency, the 78 Series of switched mode power supplies from Finder gives control system builders a stable and dependable low voltage DC supply. 91% efficient, and drawing only 0.4W in standby, this series of modular, rail mounted DC power supplies comprises 24VDC, 36W; 24VDC 60W and 12VDC, 50W output variants that support universal AC or DC supply ranges, respectively 100-265VAC and 140-370VDC.
Integrating the latest protection technologies, the 78 Series includes: thermal protection with fast output voltage shutdown; short circuit protection with ‘hiccup’ (auto-recovery) mode and overvoltage (varistor) protection. In addition, the power supplies’ high inrush current handling capability means they will safely tolerate loads with high current transient characteristics, such as capacitive circuits and solenoids fitted with ‘economy’ resistors.
To help minimise downtime in the event of a fault, the power supply inputs are protected by an easy access internal fuse, with an adjacent spare fuse ensuring an even more immediate fix. Able to be interconnected in either dual (bi-polar) or series configuration, multiple 78 Series power supply outputs can also be ORed using standard diodes to support both manual and automatic redundancy schemes, further augmenting control system reliability.
Measuring only 70mm wide and 60mm deep, these highly compact 35mm rail mounted power supplies can also help to reduce control panel size. Qualified to EN60950-1 and EN61204-3 normes, they are fully compliant with global EMC standards for power supply design.
