Finder has introduced a pair of solid state relays for silent, high-speed switching of single and 3-phase loads rated at up to 5A.  The 77 Series relays’ 300A peak current handling capability makes them particularly suitable for use with high inrush current loads, including electronic starters and igniters for fluorescent and gas discharge lamps.

Two 77 Series relay variants are available:  ‘zero-crossover’, minimising voltage and current stresses to improve reliability and greatly reduce EMI, and ‘instant switching’, ensuring a consistent time between relay input and output, of importance where simultaneous switching is desirable as in 3-phase switching.

The relays have a single AC output and can be specified with either AC or AC/DC control inputs for added flexibility.  5kV insulation between input and output assures a high level of application safety and security.  Provided in a compact 17.5mm wide housing for 35mm rail mounting, the 77 Series also features an LED operational status indicator and an integral heat sink.

The solid state relay’s spark- and bounce-free switching characteristics ensure a virtually infinite electrical life, of particular benefit in high-speed, repetitive applications and in domestic and office environments, where electrical interference needs to be kept to the absolute minimum.

Complementing Crydom’s extensive offer of Heavy Duty High Power Solid State Relays, the new “CL” series is optimized for lighter duty applications in heating, lighting and motion control.

Crydom’s new CL series of AC output Solid State Relays is intended for general purpose use in heating, lighting and motion control applications where panel mounting is desirable but traditional heavy duty SSRs are not required. Rated at either 5 or 10 amps output from 24 to 280 VAC, the CL series features either 3 to 32 VDC or 90 to 250 VAC inputs and includes an LED input status indicator. The CL series is offered in the industry standard panel mount SSR package and is available in either IP00 or IP20 touch safe screw terminal configurations.

Featuring 4kV all solid state optical isolation with Triac output, the CL series is available with either zero voltage turn-on for resistive load applications or random turn-on for inductive load applications. Crydom, an operation of Custom Sensors and Technologies (CST) and global expert in solid state relay technology, introduces enhanced one-cycle surge current and I2T ratings in the popular 30 amp CKRA / CKRD series 22.5mm solid state relays. Higher surge and I2T ratings are made possible by utilizing larger power semiconductors thus providing greater current handling capabilities.

As part of an ongoing process to improve and validate existing design specifications, engineers at Crydom have increased the 30A CKR series one-cycle surge current and I2T ratings which are now well in excess of the previously published specifications. Utilizing oversized SCR die and with a superior mechanical and thermal design, the CKRxx30 relays now boast a 1,140Apk / 1,200Apk (50Hz / 60Hz) one-cycle surge current rating, and a 6,500A2S / 6,000A2S (50Hz / 60Hz) I2t rating.

These enhanced ratings make the CKR 30 amp series ideal for use in heavy industrial applications where surge currents may be of significant concern, or where branch circuit protection is provided by slower reacting  circuit breakers. 

Additional features and benefits of the CKR series include a compact 22.5mm DIN mount package, integral heat sink that eliminates the need for additional thermal calculations and assembly, LED input status indicator, 4000V optical isolation, cage-clamp terminals, optional internal overvoltage protection, and an internal RC snubber network.
