To provide convenient cost-effective solutions for electrical distribution applications where a switched neutral is needed, Moeller Electric has expanded its popular and versatile range of xStart contactors to include new four-pole models. The new DILMP models cover AC1 current ratings from 22A to 200A in just four frame sizes, the new four-pole contactors feature identical dimensions for AC- and DC-operated versions, thereby simplifying panel design and construction.
Ideal for use in mains/standby changeover, heating control, and distribution systems for IT installations, xStart four-pole contactors, like their three pole counterparts, have specially designed low consumption coil assemblies.
Not only do these innovative coil systems reduce heating in the control panel and energy consumption, they also make it possible for contactors up to 45A to be controlled directly from inexpensive low current PLC outputs, thereby eliminating the need for inconvenient interposing relays or costly high-power output modules.
The use of the contactors with PLCs is further simplified by the integrated suppressor which is included as standard in all DC-operated versions.
The new contactors feature space-saving compact construction, are designed to make wiring fast and easy. Access to the coil terminals is at front-plate level and, for additional convenience and safety, double-chamber screw-clamp terminals are used throughout.
Moeller Electric offers a wide range of accessories for use with its new four-pole xStart contactors. These include mechanical interlocks for vertical and horizontal configurations, which need no additional space to be allowed between the contactors; auxiliary contacts in standard and early-make/late-break versions; suppressors for AC-operated types; and insulating shrouds.
To maximise user convenience, the new four-pole contactors use the same accessories as three-pole models in the xStart range.
Manufactured to the highest standards, xStart contactors are designed to provide maintenance-free operation for a mechanical life of at least 10 million operations. They comply with all relevant sections of IEC60947, as well as with appropriate UL and CSA requirements. In addition, they carry the CE marking.

Based on the latest xStart DILM contactors, which have mechanical lives in excess of ten million operations and are fitted with durable RMQ Titan pushbuttons, Moeller Electric’s new enclosed motor starters combine exceptional reliability with compact dimensions and very competitive pricing.
In addition, because the starters are designed and built in the UK, they fully address the specific needs of UK users, and excellent availability is guaranteed
Standard products in the new Moeller Electric enclosed motor starter range include direct-on-line types with ratings from 4kW to 11kW, direct-on-line reversing types with ratings of 4kW and 5.5kW and star-delta types with ratings from 5.5kW to 15kW. The starters are available in 230V and 400V versions for use on 50Hz supplies.
The starters come complete with or without an isolator and are supplied fully wired, requiring only the addition of an overload relay – which mounts directly on the contactor – to be ready for immediate use. All models are offered in insulating or stainless steel enclosures with an IP65 ingress protection rating, or in sheet-steel enclosures which have an IP55 rating.
Moeller Electric's new enclosed motor starters are designed to provide long maintenance-free service lives. Customised versions to meet requirements which are not covered by the standard models are available on fast deliveries and at attractive prices.

Just 17.5mm wide for single pole versions and 52.5mm wide for triple-pole types, Moeller Electric’s new Xpole FAZ miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) have a breaking capacity of 15kA, in line with IEC/EN6094. This makes them an attractive and cost-effective choice for use in industrial applications where space is always at a premium, and high prospective fault currents are often encountered.
In addition to the standard B, C and D trip characteristics, Moeller is offering Xpole FAZ MCBs with the new Z, K and S characteristics, which are of particular interest to OEMs and designers of automation systems.
Specifically designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment, the Z characteristic has a short-circuit response current of 2 to 3 In, combined with quick-reaction overload protection. The K characteristic has a short-circuit response current of 8 to 12 In, which prevents nuisance tripping with three-phase loads such as motors, while the S characteristic with its exceptionally high 13 to 17 In short-circuit response provides a complete solution to the problem of protecting control transformers and other loads with very high inrush currents.
Moeller Electric's new Xpole FAZ MCBs are available with ratings from 0.5A to 63A, and are offered in single-, double-, three- and four-pole versions. All types comply with a broad range of national and international standards, including UL and CSA, there is even a special series of devices which fully comply with UL489.
A range of accessories, which includes auxiliary signalling contacts and shunt-trip mechanisms, provides additional functionality. To ensure fast and easy assembly, most accessories simply snap into place without the need to use tools. The breakers themselves are designed for convenient mounting on standard DIN rail.
The new compact Xpole FAZ MCBs are complemented by an extensive family of RCCBs, combined RCD/MCBs (RCBOs) and control devices. The PKNM combined RCD/MCBs offer triple protection in a single device, namely overload, short-circuit and residual current protection in the space of only two MCB widths. Catering for either B or C characteristics, they are available from 6A to 40A with rated fault currents of 30mA or 300mA.
Xpole type AZ MCBs are also available for use in applications where current ratings up to 125A and a switching capacity greater than 15kA is needed.
