Explosion-proof switches help customers meet increasing safety, regulatory requirements anywhere in the world.
Honeywell announced it has received Electrotechnical Commission (IECEx) approval for its MICRO SWITCH™ BX explosionproof switch products. With IECEx approvals, manufacturers can specify one Honeywell MICRO SWITCH™ BX-series switch for a machine that will potentially be used in Europe, Asia or North America.
IECEx is the Commission’s certification of explosive atmospheres, and incorporates all existing approvals. Current North American UL/CSA and European ATEX approvals are being superseded by IECEx recognition. Honeywell’s explosion-proof switch family obtained certification from the official global regulatory agency.
"The global nature of approvals is critical to pull together many countries’ and territories’ regulatory requirements,” said Leslie Neill, global product marketing manager for Honeywell explosion-proof and safety switches.
“This allows our customers to apply our products almost anywhere in the world and meet ever-increasing levels of safety regulations. Honeywell offers a wide range of differentiated solutions to meet virtually any application requirement,” explained Brad Kautzer, vice president and general manager of electromechanical line of business for Honeywell Sensing and Control.
By obtaining the newest global standard for safety, Honeywell customers around the world can be assured their explosion-proof switches may meet all local safety regulations. Honeywell BX Series explosion-proof limit switches are rugged products used in hazardouslocations, such as control valves in petrochemical, waste handling or food processing plants. Honeywell MICRO SWITCH™ explosion-proof limit switches may be most appropriate for use in dangerous environments where contamination or long distances may render other sensing technologies ineffective.

The 91MCE series limit switch is a compliment to Honeywell's existing product line of smaller, lower cost limit switches. Designed for modern industrial OEMs, the miniature package size fits in applications where space is limited. The small package size can be gang mounted for applications requiring more than two switch circuits. The 20mm mounting pattern meets most globally accepted mounting standards.
This product family offers the user many options including a variety of different actuator styles. Connection options include pre-leaded cable in various lengths or M12 connectors, both with side or bottom exits. Design flexibility is further enhanced with the availability of both slow action and snap action circuitry. Direct acting contacts are designed to open the NC contact when actuated. The epoxy-sealed rugged die-cast housing provides enhanced environmental durability.
FEATURES
• Direct acting contacts are designed to open NC contacts
when actuated

General Information:
MICROSWITCH standard basic switches are precision snap-action mechanisms enclosed in accurately molded plastic cases. These switches are carefully manufactured and thoroughly inspected. They are industry-known for their compactness, light weight, accurate repeatability and long life.
BZ/BA Series Standard Basic Switches are used for simple on/off applications and meet the needs of most applications. However, modifications of contact design and material, spring configuration and plunger location create other types with greater electrical load handling capacity. Other changes in materials and switch design provide operating characteristics; temperature tolerances and sealing that cover a wide range of special requirements, for example;
SM Series Subminiature Basic Switches are used for simple or precision on/off application needs. These switches combine small size and light weight with ample electrical capacity, precision operation and long life.
SX Series Subminiature Basic Switches are used for simple or precision on/off application needs. They are small, precision snap-action switches that are ideal where savings in space and weight are important.
UM Series Subminiature Basic Switches are used for simple or precision ON/OFF application needs. These switches combine small size and light weight with ample electrical capacity, low cost and long life.
UX Series Subminiature Basic Switches are used for simple or precision on/off application needs. These are small, low-cost snap-action switches which are ideal where savings in space and weight are important.
V5 and V7 Series Basic Switches are used for simple or precision on/off, end of limit, presence/absence, pressure, temperature and manual operator interface application needs.
ZM Series Subminiature Basic Switches are used for simple or precision ON/OFF application needs. These switches combine small size and light weight with ample electrical capacity, low cost and long life.
ZW Series Subminiature Basic Switches are used for simple or precision ON/OFF application needs. These switches combine small size and light weight with ample electrical capacity, low cost and long life.
