April 22, 2014

Finder.jpg

The 39 Series MasterINTERFACE, next-generation interface has extended its range with the addition of models featuring “push-in” terminals – the innovative connector system which allows the direct entry of solid wires without the need to open the clamp.

As with the screw terminal models, the extended range consists of 5 types, all available with electromechanical relays (1 changeover contact 6 A) or with solid state relays (1 NO 2A at 24 V DC or 230 V AC):

•    Master BASIC (code 39.01 relay, 39.00 SSR)
•    Master PLUS (code 39.61 relay, 39.60 SSR)
•    Master INPUT (code 39.71 relay, 39.70 SSR)
•    Master OUTPUT (code 39.51 relay, 39.50 SSR)
•    Master TIMER (code 39.91 relay, 39.90 SSR)

Each type will be available with the same input voltage versions as the current models with screw terminals, although both
screw and push-in types will now offer the following additional versions:

MasterBASIC – with AC 110 ... 125V AC/DC (using new sockets: 93.61.0.125 and 93.60.0.125)
MasterINPUT – compatible with the sensors with current less than 100 mA (using new sockets 93.64.7.024 and 93.67.7.024).

All 39 Series accessories (ie. the output fuse module 093.63, the 093.16 jumper links in Blue, Red and Black, the 093.60 separator and the 093.68.14.1 “MasterADAPTER”) can be used with the new sockets.

The Wieland Terminal selos – New Generation

July 1, 2013

Logo.jpg

With selos New Generation, Wieland, the inventor of secure electrical connection technology, is launching an innovative version of the Wieland terminal block with screw connection on the market.

selos – Simple and Secure Connection
With its selos line, Wieland Electric has developed a series of rail terminal blocks that combines many user-friendly characteristics in a single product, giving the user decisive advantages in terms of flexibility, economy and reliability. The selos series of products combines the classic screw connection with modern connection technology, with the focus on customer benefits and increased efficiency when working. The essential features of selos include a secure and maintenance-free connection, optimized and time-saving handling as well as noticeably reduced costs for logistics.

Regardless of whether a single solid-conductor wire or multi-stranded wire is used and whether a wire end ferrule is present or not, selos provides a simple and secure electrical connection. Thanks to the large amount of terminal space, universal connection and easy expansion through use of multi-wire connections are possible at any time. At the same time, the proven Wieland screw connection technology guarantees a secure, maintenance-free and long-lasting connection. The special clamping element design with its single-lead thread ensures high quality and uniform connection even when rewiring and reconnecting. Its small size is an additional benefit of selos: a result of the uniform and optimized design as well as the considerably fewer number of accessories.

Plug & Play Even with DIN rail Screw Terminal Blocks
You save valuable time with selos during assembly and wiring thanks to the simple and screwless ground blocks as well as the plug-in connecting links and adapters.  All terminals blocks in the series feature a two-row, plug-in jumpering channel. This permits variable potential distribution through use of a chain arrangement, since any number of plug-in jumpers can be connected in succession as necessary. In addition, the use of standard variants permits cost savings for inventory.

Fully Compatible with Wieland Accessories
selos has been designed to mesh seamlessly with Wieland accessories, which share a uniform configuration and may be used throughout the line. The user has the choice of any Wieland connection technology – while being able to use time-tested accessories. The extremely rugged jumpering elements deserve special attention. The intelligent design guarantees a secure connection even when it is subjected to vibrations, allows easy adaptation to a variety of different applications and provides a reliable connection even under the harshest ambient conditions.

The Wieland Identification System Ensures a Clear Orientation
The Wieland identification system can be used to label all terminal locations. Unambiguous assignment of wire to terminal location when wiring is assured at all times and simplifies troubleshooting, even while wires are connected. The clear legibility and secure attachment of the identification tags provide a convincing solution.  The Wieland identification tags join the terminal blocks into solid unit on the mounting rail. The wiemarc identification system is available for customer-specific labels.  The identification tag holders – ideal for service and maintenance – guarantee individual labeling with only a few items without the use of complex labeling devices. Moreover, selos allows you to identify entire rows of terminal blocks in a single step through use of continuous strips.

A Wide Variety of Designs
selos is available as feed-through and ground blocks with two, three or four locations for each potential, as disconnect blocks as well as multitier blocks for different wiring tasks within a confined space. In addition, the selos product family includes function blocks with a wide variety of diode circuits, fuse blocks and diverse application- specific special terminals such as instrument transformer isolating terminals. selos has been designed for use in machinery and plant construction as well as installation in buildings.

selos Technical Data to EN 60947-7:
Design cross-section 2.5 to 240 mm²
Rated current of up to 415 A
Rated voltage of up to 1000 V

ABB's ADO Terminal Blocks Offer Fast, Reliable Connections

May 18, 2006

ABB2.jpg

ABB has released a new family of terminal blocks that dramatically reduce installation times without compromising safety. Based on ABB's insulation displacement connection (IDC) technology, the new ADO system terminal blocks can reduce wiring times by up to 80% compared with conventional terminal blocks.

The system eliminates the most common risks associated with connections, such as forgetting to strip the wire, folding over of wire strands, stripping too much wire, incorrect tightening torque or badly inserted terminal ends.

The ADO system uses a hand-operated tool to enable the operator to execute simple and accurate high-speed wiring and cutting. By ensuring a tight connection every time, ADO terminal blocks eliminate the problem of loose screw terminations, maximising safety in heavy industrial applications subject to vibration and shocks and reducing subsequent maintenance time and cost.

ADO Blocks.jpg

When a connection is made, the tool strips away the wire insulation and pushes the non-prepared conductor cable into a cutting jaw, which holds it tight and ensures a sound electrical contact. The manual tool has been specially designed for on-site maintenance and can remain permanently inside a panel. A semi-automatic version is also available, which enables repeated connections to be made quickly with minimum effort from the installer.

For wiring flexibility, users can choose ADO system blocks with an IDC termination on both sides or with a combination of IDC and screw clamp terminations.

Another key benefit of ABB's ADO system blocks is their reduced size. Up to 50 terminals can be installed per foot of DIN rail, helping to reduce the overall installation space compared to conventional terminal blocks. Further space savings are also achieved by the terminal's ability to accept two similar wires into each termination. The ADO system terminal blocks are available as standard mounted on DIN3 rail.

A 'mini' version is also available for installations with severe size constraints. Up to 25% smaller than the standard IDC blocks, the 'mini' blocks are ideal for reduced space environments. For mounting, mini block models are offered for DIN 2 or DIN 3 rails. Other models can be screwed or snapped directly onto a metal chassis, such as a panel mount. For wiring flexibility, mini IDC blocks are available with insulation displacement on one side and a standard screw clamp on the other. The 6-mm wide block is rated 18 A, the 8-mm wide block 25 A.

All ADO system blocks are UL recognized, CSA certified, 600 V up to 25 A, and meet IEC and VDE standards. In addition to the ADO system blocks, ABB also offers terminal blocks with screw clamp and spring connections.

ABB also offers an ATEX certified terminal block range for safe use in explosive atmospheres. The range is certified to the highest possible level of the ATEX directive 94/9/EC European directive.
