Where the need exists to control lighting, temperature or other functions according to daylight hours, Finder’s Astro 12.81 time switch is an innovative, easily programmable time switch, which employs a unique digital program to calculate sunrise and sunset times by simply entering the location’s postcode with a single joystick. Its newest version now offers added flexibility, with the capability to override the Astro ON time with time-switch settings, thus further avoiding energy wastage.
With ever increasing pressures to reduce energy consumption, the Astro will control lighting, heating/cooling and humidity equipment in commercial, residential and industrial applications wherever sunrise and sunset times are critical in determining operational times, or where stipulated by local or national regulatory requirements.
The Astro’s micro-controller stores postcode data from 16 European countries, including the UK, which together with date information allows for the precise calculation of seasonal sunrise and sunset times. The Astro is also programmable using geographical coordinates, settable between 30°S and 64°N; 16°W and 50°E. The Astro will also automatically compensate, should European Summer Time be enabled.
For further versatility, the output switching can be advanced or retarded about the calculated sunrise (or sunset) time in 10-minute increments—up to a maximum of 90 minutes. A manual override of the output status allows for maintenance or one-off events.
With a 16 A 250 V AC rated output contact and a 120 A 5 ms peak current rating, the Astro time switch is capable of directly switching 2000 W halogen, 750 W compensated fluorescent, 200 W CFL or LED lamp loads and AC15 loads up to 750 VA.
The integral back-up battery, which is easily replaceable from the front, features an automatic power save mode which helps extend battery life.

Eaton Corporation is offering a new plug-in unit for the NZM3 circuit-breaker. The NZM3 plug-in unit allows customers to exchange the circuit-breaker in a panel simply and quickly, and it also offers benefits during service work because the system section concerned can be disconnected simply and safely.
The housing design of the base has been adapted to that of the NZM3, so that all connection options provided by the main device can also be implemented in the base. For Eaton, safety has the highest priority, and the live parts in the base are therefore automatically protected from direct contact when the circuit-breaker compartment is pulled out. The circuit-breaker also disconnects automatically as soon as the mounting screws are loosened when the circuit-breaker is in the On position or when the circuit-breaker is pushed in. In the latter case, the circuit-breaker can then only be switched on if the mounting screws between the circuit-breaker and the plug-in unit base have been tightened.
Even with the wide range of features and capabilities provided by its products, simple operation and flexibility are top priorities for Eaton: Just fit the modified NZM3 with its rear terminal bolts into the guide, tighten the bolts, and the system is already operational. An auxiliary conductor plug-in device is also available as an option. This enables the connected shunt or undervoltage releases, auxiliary contactors and also the remote operator to be tested without having to fit the circuit-breaker into the panel. In this way, correct operation can be tested prior to commissioning. Users also do not have to change the wiring when exchanging a circuit-breaker: The auxiliary conductor plug can simply be removed from its base, fitted onto the new terminal cables and operation is restored.
Technical specifications have been set to meet the wide range of requirements in the industrial sector and are impressive in every respect: The new plug-in unit on the NZM3 from 250 - 500A can be used without any derating up to an ambient temperature of 40°C, and this includes the extensive range of accessories. For more demanding applications, the full switching capacity of the NZM3 - up to 150kA at 415VAC - can be used. The circuit-breaker can also be fitted in many positions, either vertically or turned anticlockwise/clockwise by 90°.

To facilitate greater integration of controls and automation in building services, Finder has expanded its 22 Series modular contactor range to include 4 pole versions rated at 40A and 63A.
The AC/DC coil with varistor protection has a virtually silent operation, thus is suitable for residential, hospital, hotel and commercial installations.
The new 22.44 and 22.64 models use AgSnO2 contact material capable of handling maximum peak currents up to 240A, making them particularly suitable for high inrush current loads such as electronic lighting ballasts.
Equipped with 4-pole, 3mm gap, double break contacts in multiple configurations, specifically 4NO, 3NO + 1NC and 2NO + 2NC, rated up to 5000W for incandescent or halogen lamp loads and 15kW for 3-phase motor loads, these units are ideal for heavier commercial applications including single and 3-phase pumps and motors used in heating and ventilation systems.
Protective separation between coil and contacts provides reinforced insulation for safety, as required by many domestic and commercial standards/codes of practice.
Fitted with a mechanical indicator for visual operational status the 22 Series provides a compact, quiet, high power multi-pole switching solution for all areas of residential and commercial, services, and industrial sectors.
