Energy Harvesting for Wireless Sensors
Modern automated production equipment relies on numerous cables for power and data transmission. But cabling takes up valuable space, reduces accessibility, and is sometimes the most failure-prone part of a machine. This is where compact and powerful prismatic supercapacitors come into play.

By enabling sensors to operate independently of a fixed power supply, supercapacitors help reduce wiring complexity. A small energy source—such as a solar cell or a kinematic energy harvester—generates low levels of power, which are insufficient for directly operating the sensor and its control IoT module. Instead, this energy is stored in the supercapacitor. When needed, the supercap releases high-power pulses, providing enough energy for the sensor to take a measurement and for the IoT module to transmit data via Wi-Fi.

Space is almost always at a premium in control cabinets for industrial applications. SCHURTER addresses this problem with a complete new filter design that is just 44 mm in width. The new, single-stage filter series is constructed with a printed circuit board in a plastic housing. It has screw terminals for the three phases and a terminal on the metal base plate for the earth connection.

With the AMO 10.3x38, Schurter launches a high-performance fuse for particularly high voltages up to 800 VDC and currents up to 50 A, which is particularly suitable for automotive applications.

High voltages and high currents occur in electric vehicles in numerous places. Their battery packs with several thousand rechargeable cells store enormous amounts of energy. This in order to meet customer requirements concerning driving performance and range by still providing the shortest possible recharging times. To safeguard this level of power, you need highly reliable high power fuses. Such fuses are required, for example, in the BMS (Battery Management System), for on-board and off-board chargers, DC-DC converters and other systems exposed to high voltages.

Welding Is More Reliable
A weak point of every fuse is the connection between the melting wire and the contact cap. This connection is usually done by a solder joint. In the fuse production process, however, this technology brings quite many difficulties. Creating the connection by welding increases the reliability by far. SCHURTER uses a new, patented process which guarantees highest reliability.

Versatile Mounting Options
The new fuses of the AMO series offer a multitude of possible mounting options. In addition to the classic mounting directly on a printed circuit board, screwable version for surface mounting or even axial mounting are available.

Supercaps, also known as supercapacitors, are a special type of energy storage device that combine certain properties of rechargeable batteries with those of capacitors. They can store enormous amounts of energy this way and release it again very quickly, which makes them particularly valuable for many applications.

Compared to rechargeable batteries of the same weight, supercapacitors only have around 10 % of the energy density. However, their power density is around ten to a hundred times greater. Supercapacitors can therefore be charged and discharged much faster. The energy density indicates how much energy a storage device can hold over a longer period of time. A high energy density is essential for applications that require a continuous energy supply.

World's Thinnest Supercapacitors
The prismatic supercapacitors from Schurter are super-thin. With a thickness of just 0.4 mm, the Schurter SCPA is currently the world's thinnest supercapacitor.

The Electronic Direct Current Switch (EDC) is a new product that is an electro-mechanical microswitch that has been developed specifically for switching high direct currents. The EDC is currently the only one of its kind. Super-compact and lightweight. It switches up to 10 A at 48 VDC. The occurrence of electric arcs is prevented by the special design and the use of state-of-the-art electronic components (semiconductors). UST 1206 - New Up To 35 A

In 2008, Schurter launched the first SMT chip fuse in the 1206 format: the UST 1206. Since then, this particularly compact and powerful fuse has enjoyed great popularity. In response to a number of customer requests, SCHURTER is expanding its product portfolio with even more powerful versions of the UST 1206 with rated currents of up to 35 A.

The Schurter UST 1206 is a chip fuse for surface mounting with a “slow-blow” characteristic. This means that it has a high melting integral I2t, thanks to which the fuse does not trip immediately at inrush current peaks higher than the rated current. This is of great importance in many industrial applications (e.g. motors, power converters).

UL 248-14 Characteristic
The UST 1206 was designed for UL 248-14 characteristics. With such fuse-links, the rated current corresponds to the current that interrupts the current flow after several hours. The maximum current that may flow continuously without the fuse-link tripping is around 70 % of the rated current.

New Variants up to 35 A
Previous versions of the UST 1206 had a maximum rated current of 25 A. This range will be increased to 30 A and 35 A with two further variants. The rated voltage is 32 VAC and 63 VDC respectively. The fuse can be operated from -55 °C to +90 °C.

Application Areas
The Schurter UST 1206 is ideally suited for all applications in secondary overcurrent protection where the current requirement is particularly high even at low voltages.

The first plant-based Schurter connectors were launched in July last year. Now Schurter is following suit and significantly expanding its portfolio of “Green Line” connectors. Because wherever you can reduce your CO2 footprint without compromising on quality, you really should do so.

As with the launch of the first series of Green Line products, Schurter remains true to its policy of offering a version with plant-based housings for products that are already established on the market. This approach offers customers of these products the great advantage that no redesigns or recertifications are
necessary when replacing the old connectors based on fossil raw materials. The Schurter Green Line is therefore a 1:1 replacement with all certifications.

New to the Green Line
The steadily expanding Schurter Green Line now includes the 4797 appliance outlet, the 4798 and 6080 appliance inlets and the 4782 rewireable connector.

Bio-Based Plastics
The environmentally friendly alternative to the fossil-based plastics commonly used today are plastics made from plant-based raw materials. Plant-based raw materials have a neutral CO2 footprint over their entire life cycle, which leads to a significant reduction in overall CO2 emissions. In addition, bio-based plastics often have a lower density than fossil-based plastics, which leads to lower material consumption.

Quality
In addition to CO₂ reduction, the bioplastic is also impressive in terms of safety and quality. It meets all technical and visual requirements. Products made from bioplastics impress with the same performance and service life as those made from fossil, crude oil-based plastic. Of course with all the international approvals needed.
