* No tin whiskers, no tin dendrites
* Lead-free coating (RoHS conform)
* Similar fuse qualification as in MIL-PRF 23419
* Hermetically sealed and robust construction
Schurter extends its successful MGA / MGA-S line of 1206 dimension SMD ceramic fuses with an aviation version that is tin whisker free and completely dispenses with leaded coating.
Crystalline tin dendrites and tin whiskers pose a considerable risk of short circuits in highly dense electronics. Dendrites form during the electro-deposition process, whereby heavy marks could appear on the fuse end caps or housing. A thorough inspection and cleaning is required according to MIL-PRF 23419. Tin whiskers form after the electro-deposition process. The cause is not well understood, although adding lead to otherwise pure tin soldering is commonly used as a preventable measure.
However, lead has become an unwanted element according to many environmental initiatives, e.g. RoHS directives. For this reason, Schurter has extended the successful SMD thin-film fuse family MGA with the new –A variant. In addition to the classic MGA and the ESA-certified MGA-S space fuse, the aviation version, MGA-A, uses gold alternatively to lead. Gold plated end caps provide a surface where neither whiskers nor dendrites can form. This makes the new MGA-A a safe solution for use in not only highly sensitive electronics in the aviation industry but often suffices for use in the industrial grade space sector.
The technical design is similar to that of the ESA-certified MGA-S. This means: hermetically sealed, ultra-robust construction, which is ideally suited for use in intrinsically safe applications according to ATEX and IECEx requirements. Despite its very small footprint (1206), the MGA-A has a particularly high breaking capacity of up to 300 A at 125 VDC and can be used in a wide temperature range of -55 °C to +125 °C.
The new MGA-A from Schurter is suitable for all applications where the highest demands are placed on reliability and availability.

* Very compact design
* Various mounting options
* Variants with ground choke
* V-Lock cord retention
* Fuseholder meets latest IEC standard#
Schurter extends its successful power entry module series DD12 with new variants for screw and snap mounting. New versions are also available with additional ground choke for suppressing high-frequency interference on the ground conductor. The DD12 with fuse holder, switch and filter offers remarkable functionality in a very compact housing.
The DD12 filter series combines an IEC C14 appliance plug with a 1- or 2-pole fuse holder, a 1- or 2-pole switch and a high-quality mains filter. The particularly wide metal flange (horizontal or vertical) make contact with the housing surface over a large area and thus enables an optimum filter and shielding effect.
Ground Choke
The DD12 series is now available with a ground choke. In addition to the current-compensated choke on the pole and neutral conductor, the line filters have a second choke on the earth conductor. The ground choke is located between the device plug and the filter output. Placing the filter directly at the mains input ensures that possible high-frequency interference currents on the earth conductor cannot bypass the filter via the housing. The versions with medical filters (no Y capacitors) especially benefit from improved asymmetrical attenuation in the higher frequency range due to the earth line choke.
Applications
The DD12 series is available with standard or medical filter. It is suitable for use in devices that require a particularly high immunity to interference. These include IT or telecom systems according to IEC 90650-1 and medical devices according to IEC 60601-1.
The series meets the new fuseholder requirements outlined in IEC 60127-6 for enhanced fire safety and is also suitable for use in home appliances according to IEC 60335-1. It is compatible with V-Lock retaining cordsets. The DD12 series is certified for currents up to 10 A/250 VAC according to IEC standard and 8 A according to UL/CSA standard at 125/250 VAC. It is ENEC and cURus approved.

More and more devices on the power grid must function smoothly without interfering with each other. Not so easy, since switching power supplies and highly clocked integrated circuits are used in almost all electronic devices. EMC filters can help here. Where necessary in multi-stage design.
In practice, it is quite possible that the attenuation is not yet sufficient despite the use of a filter. In such cases, several filter stages optimized for the specific interference signals are then connected in series. Which in interaction significantly improve attenuation in both differential and common-mode interference. Usually you get very good results with a doublestage filter. However, triple-stage filters are also conceivable, feasible and available.

A thermal runaway is an increasing threat to electronic devices where more and more power is packed in ever smaller spaces; it is a threat that is poorly dealt with using traditional means.
The causes of a thermal runaway are varied and often random in nature. However, the ever-higher power density in electronic wiring and the trend towards miniaturization are without a doubt of particular importance.
More and more functions are packed in compact modules, which then also have a correspondingly high power consumption. Even slightly excessive currents in power electronics with only a little power loss lead to elevated temperatures of approximately 200 °C. The possible consequences: damage or disconnection of surrounding components, damage to the printed circuit board structure or, in the worst case, the triggering of a fire.

* Ultra-compact design
* Suitable for very high EMI disturbances
* Various mounting options
* V-Lock cord retaining option
* Fuseholder meets latest IEC standard
Today’s electronic equipment is designed to deliver high performance in a compact size. Often this causes problems affecting the equipment itself or other nearby devices due to the inherent electro-magnetic interferences being generated in and between the different systems. To meet these EMC challenges, high performance power entry modules must also keep pace, and such is the case with the new DD14 series from SCHURTER. The DD14 series packs remarkable functionality into a new generation of compact power entry modules.
The new DD14 combines an IEC C14 appliance inlet with 2-pole switch and 2-pole fuseholder. EMC performance is further enhanced with a depth-saving 2-stage filter. Shielding is optimized by screwing the metal casing of the filter to the panel, using its horizontal or vertical flange. A snap-in filter version eliminates the flange, consuming even less panel space.
The DD14 integrates the EMC filter directly in line with the power input. The two-stage filter design suppresses interference voltages more effectively over a much broader frequency spectrum than single-stage filters, thereby having a positive effect on electro-magnetic compatibility. Standard and low-leakage medical filter options are available for use in commercial or facilities ICT equipment according to IEC 60950 and medical equipment according to IEC 60601-1. The series meets the new fuseholder requirements outlined in IEC 60127-6 for enhanced fire safety and is also suitable for use in home appliances according to IEC 60335-1. It is compatible with V-Lock retaining cordsets.
The DD14 is rated for current levels up to 10 A / 250 VAC according to IEC and 8 A 125/250 VAC according to UL / CSA. It is ENEC and cURus approved.
