Schurter presents the new waterproof IEC connector consisting of the appliance inlet type 4761 and the rewireable cord connector type 4762. With its high protection class IP 67 or IP 69K connected or unconnected with cover, this appliance coupler is perfect for supplying power to appliances used in harsh environments such as industrial, marine, laboratories or any type of outdoor appliances.
The Push/Pull locking system provides a strong reliable connection, yet at the same time ensures a break-away cable in the event of overdue stress. The blue shape and color of the pull-out mechanism indicates the pull-out direction. A clear catch sound is heard upon the seated connection. The connector style is similar to the international standards of IEC and UL/CSA 60320, but is distinguished by a special arrangement of the contacts, so as not to interchange with conventional power cords. This ensures the maximum power applied, IP protection and the cord retention. The connector can be temporarily submerged in water and can be cleaned with high-pressure hot water cleaners. Both components are very easy to terminate. The inlet 4761 is available with solder or quick connect terminals. The connector is equipped with conventional screw terminals, as commonly seen in rewireable connector designs. Thus, no special tools for wire assembly are necessary.
The appliance couplers are available in black and white. The dual components, appliance inlet and cord connector, can be ordered as complete sets, which simplifies the ordering processes and customer logistics. The inlet and connector are also available as individual components for separate inventorying. Accessory covers are available for both plug parts, providing a waterproof protection IP 67 in plugged state and IP 69K in an unplugged state. These protective covers also offer protection against pollutants, which can potentially contaminate the contacts.
The waterproof appliance coupler set is VDE and UL/CSA approved. The rated current is according to IEC 10A @ 250 VAC, according to UL/CSA 15A @ 250 VAC. The maximum operating temperature is +120°C. Quick connect terminal options for the inlet are 4.8x0.8mm, 6.3x0.8mm or solder. The cord connector can be assembled with cables from 6.0 - 10.0 mm, maximum wire size acc. to IEC 1.0 mm2, according to UL/CSA 14AWG (2.08mm2). The approvals of these connectors according to IEC/UL 60320 simplify the process for the equipment manufacturer to obtain approval of their appliances, because many equipment standards with respect to the power supply refers to these component standard.

Schurter's T9 fuseholder style circuit breaker series is now expanded to include a version for vertical PCB mounting. The new T9-817 model completes the existing range, which includes a horizontal PCB version, and three different panel mount styles. The full range of mounting styles provides a form and fit alternative to equivalent closed fuseholders.
The T9 family of thermal circuit breakers provides an array of mounting styles alternative to industry standard closed fuseholders, including vertical and horizontal mounted PCB types, and three different panel mount styles with quick connect terminals: snap in or nut fastened, including a threaded neck rear-mount style. The newest addition, T9-817 PCB for vertical PCB mounting, reduces assembly costs and saves board space, by eliminating assembly hardware and wires. It sports a slim design and a small cylindrical push-to-reset button, which protrudes minimally through the panel opening. A spring pushes the button out further when the device trips.
Circuit breakers are an ideal alternative to fuses, since fuses are known to age, due to pulse or high surge currents, and thus trip prematurely. Circuit breakers prevent unnecessary down time by eliminat-ing the need for fuse replacement, as well as the associated risk of inadvertently inserting a fuse with the incorrect current rating. The T9 series thermal circuit breaker is therefore intended as an alternative to 5x20 or 6.3x32 mm fuses used with closed fuseholders.
Typical applications for circuit breakers include power supplies, UPS systems, PDUs, electric tools, mo-tor drive applications, medical diagnostic equipment, commercial kitchen appliances, lighting fixtures, HVAC products as well as equipment for sports and leisure activities. The T9 series is also available on request with glow-wire tested (GWT) materials and is therefore suitable for unattended household appli-ances. The T9 product line conforms to UL 1077, CSA C22.2 235 and IEC 60934 standards. It is cURus, VDE and CCC approved.

With a long history of innovation in the connector and EMC marketplace, Schurter expands its range of power entry modules with the introduction of the FMAD and FMAB CEE Connectors, featuring a first of its kind integrated line filter for 1- and 3-Phase industrial and power distribution applications. The integrated filter optimizes suppression of conducted emissions by eliminating cables between the inlet and filter.
The CEE connectors according IEC 60309 are used all over the world for industrial applications and power distribution. The single and three phase connectors can be used for any application with a detachable power cord. Today, noise generating electronics used in machines drive demand for EMI
suppression filters in order to meet international EMC standards. This filter is typically mounted on the metal chassis for optimal performance.
Traditionally, wires are used to connect the power inlet to the EMI filter mounted separately on the chassis. These wires can vary in length and can cause EMC problems with electromagnetic fields generated by a noise source inside the equipment bypassing the filter! The new CEE connector with integrated filter solves this problem by eliminating these wires and making a direct connection between the filtered connector and its metal shield, which is grounded to the panel cut-out. The fully integrated unit can be front or rear panel mounted directly where the power comes into the equipment.
The new FMAB CEE series is suitable for single phase AC applications. It extends the power entry module concept outlined in IEC 60320, where power input is limited to 16 A. Both the FMAB CEE and the FMAD CEE, which is designed for three phase applications, are rated from 16 up to 32 amperes. They are designed and approved according IEC 60309, UL 1283 and CSA 22.2 no. 8. The voltage rating is 250 VAC (IEC, UL, CSA) and 110 / 125 VAC (UL, CSA). The new filter series are suitable for use in industrial appliances exposed to temperatures ranging from -40 to +85C. Screw terminals provide for ease of installation.

The fuseholder standard IEC/EN 60127-6 has been revised to improve fire safety. Effective in October 2017, manufacturers of fuseholders will only be permitted to market products that have been tested and authorized in accordance with the updated standard. Schurter will offer its customers upgraded solutions by the deadline.
Requirements defined for the household appliance standard IEC 60335-1 are also being applied to the fuseholder standard IEC 60127-6. So the requirement with regard to the glow-wire resistance of the material is being increased. Schurter has planed the adaption of the products and its requalifying
and is currently deploying it. That means used materials has to be tested and if necessary replaced with new glow-wire resistant material. Thus these components can be used in unattended electrical household appliances after the change-over.
Besides the fuseholders, IEC appliance inlets and power entry modules with and without EMC filters are also affected if they have a fuse drawer. The order number of the products are not touched. Therefore manufactures using Schurter products do not have to change the approvals.
Detailed information about the revised fuseholder standard and Schurters plan for implementation are available upon request.
