Schurter presents a breakthrough product, providing simple and universal EMC for high frequency applications, using X2Y® filter technology. Series 5150 possesses broadband suppression properties to 1 GHz and combines them with the most simple and universal power input. This integrated and compact design provides an easy, safe and cost effective alternative to existing market solutions and opens new opportunities in the filtering of high frequencies.
Until now, X2Y® filter technology is known only for EMI protection in DC circuits. With the introduction of the Schurter 5150 series, the application of X2Y® is now extended to the area of AC power input. The technology is applied in place of X and Y capacitors, typically used in line filters today. It combines the X and Y capacitors into one component, thereby eliminating the leads connecting the capacitors and reducing parasitic impedances to a minimum. This results in broadband suppression into high frequency ranges.
The double shielding between the X2Y® filter and filter casing, together with the broad metal flange can serve as an alternative for feed-through and multi-stage filters. The compact package is designed for front- or rear-side mounting and uses the same panel cutout size as a typical filtered AC inlet. Filter variations include types for standard, medical and industrial applications.
The breakthrough design of the 5150 is the first of its kind to be safety agency approved for use in AC applications according to IEC and UL. It is ENEC approved up to 10 A 250 VAC and cURus approved up to 15 A 250 VAC. Application examples include equipment for measurement engineering, data encryption, medical engineering, IT and telecommunications. It is suitable for use in office and medical applications in accordance with IEC/EN 60950 and/or 60601-1.

Schurter extends its range of DC rated filters with the introduction of series FMEB and FMEC. These filters are especially optimised for use in DC applications, particularly those requiring increased attenuation of asymmetric disturbances.
Applications include DC supplied IT and telecom infrastructures, as well as branch and automation control circuits for the machine and transportation industries. When used in the electrical supply cabinets, the filters guarantee safe operation of the system by attenuating external disturbances.
The filters have a current rating of 30 A at 80 VDC and are offered in single and dual polarity output circuits. The single polarity FMEB filter is designed for a maximum operating voltage of 80 VDC, while the FMEC series offers connections for two polarities for a maximum + 80 VDC. The aluminium housing is potted and has metal flanges for secure mounting to the chassis. The input side is equipped with screw clamps and the output has 6.3 mm x 0.8 mm quick connect terminals. Other terminal configurations are available upon request.

Schurter is pleased to announce the added snap-in version of the series 5003 DC power entry module for 48V telecom and other DC-powered equipment. The new DC module features two different standard connector styles, AMP Universal MATE-N-LOK and Molex HCS-125. The connectors are encased with a single stage filter rated up to 15 A at 125 VDC. The filters provide wide-band attenuation in frequencies ranging from 100 kHz to 30 MHz.
Demand for higher data processing and transmission speeds, at the Customer Premises Equipment level, pushes demand upstream to Internet Service Providers and eventually to the core Central Office services. This movement toward higher speed and functionality brings with it the challenge of effectively managing potentially harmful electro-magnetic interferences in equipment used throughout these communications systems. While filtered AC power entry modules have become a popular solution for filtering AC power lines, the concept of a DC filtered power entry module, specifically for telecom equipment, is relatively new.
The 5003 provides optimal shielding at the panel opening. It includes a screw mount version for front or rear mounting to the chassis as well as the new snap-in version. The version for rear mounting allows for pre-wiring of the module prior to installation. Labor cost saving options can be realized by using either the snap-in version or the rear mount version with its pre-threaded holes.
The non potted design provides maximum performance in a lightweight and environmentally friendly compact package. The series is ENEC and cURs approved and complies with IEC/EN 60950 standard, for office and IT equipment. Applications include network routers, LAN switches, WAN switches and multiplexers, as well as other equipment using DC power supplies.

Schurter’s MSM metal switch series has been extended to include a version with a double pole contact system. The new MSM DP switch is designed with two separate switching contacts. The separate contacts can be used as normally open, normally closed or as change-over. The MSM DP is ideal for potential free momentary switching action of electrical equipment. Furthermore, the switch can be used in applications where an additional second contact is required for a safety circuit. Typical applications are emergency switches where the control loop is switched, and in addition a second circuit for emergency services is activated.
Due to its flat front construction of 1.7 mm, a protection class of IP67 and a high shock resistance, the switch is extremely robust against vandalism. The MSM DP is available in mounting dimensions 19, 22 and 30 mm. The standard type is designed with switching capacities up to 3A / 250 VAC and 5A / 125 VAC respectively. For applications having other switching capacities, alternative variants are available on request. For night applications or where optical status indications are desired, point and ring illuminated versions in different colours are available.

The new and first of its kind power entry module, Schurter series 5707, advances the range of applications in the area of detachable power. It offers an alternative to makeshift accessories often used to prevent particles or liquids from entering into the appliance. The new power entry module is resistant to dirt, dust and other fine particles, as well as sprays, splashes and jets of non-aggressive liquids. It is ideal for use in electronic equipment exposed to leaks, drips and spills, as well as equipment subject to routine washing or disinfecting.
The inlet portion of the 5707 is according to IEC 60320-1, style C14 or C18. It is combined with a 1-or 2-pole fuse holder and a standard or medical EMC filter rated up to 8 Amps at 250 VAC. The complete unit is rated IP65 with seal protection at the panel opening, around the fuse holders and between the inlet and connector pins. The seal at the panel opening is achieved with a rubber lining, which is fixed into a groove around the metal flange. Front or rear mount versions are available. Special screws guarantee the sealing at the mounting holes. The fuse holders are independent of each other and accept 5x20 mm fuses. Screw caps with o-rings are used to provide a seal between the cap and holder. A tool is required to remove the cap from the holder to replace the fuse, which is required for medical equipment.
The 5707 offers pre-wired electrical connections, using 6.3x0.8 quick connect terminals. The series is approved according to ENEC, UL & CSA. Versions for protection class I or II are available, as well as a version with special class I capacitors for increased voltage withstand. The module is according to medical standards IEC/UL 60601-1 and is ideally suited for use in medical applications such as diagnostic, dialysis and infusion devices, as well as commercial appliances such as drink dispensing equipment.

Schurter has created the latest addition to the existing snap-in front panel mount circuit breaker. The popular fuse holder style, single pole thermal circuit breaker series T9 is now also available with threaded-neck and snap-in versions for rear mounting. The threaded-neck type is available with an IP 65 rated cover, which provides protection against environmental conditions such as dust or jetting water. Its tripping operation is cycling trip-free.
Circuit breakers with the fuse holder style body are ideal substitutes for panel fuses where inrush currents cause nuisance trips, or aging of the fusing element overtime. Resetting the circuit can avoid unnecessary downtime and maintenance costs associated with replacing fuses. Improper replacement with the wrong current rating is also prevented. The circuit breaker button extends to indicate when the circuit is interrupted. The button returns to depressed status when pushed-to-reset.
Typical applications include power supplies, UPS, PDUs, power tools, industrial appliances, medical diagnostic and analysis appliances, lighting, sports and hobby machinery or HVAC. The T9 series meets UL standard 1077 for Supplementary Protection, CSA C22.2 235, IEC 60934 and GB 17701. Current ratings range from 4 - 16 Amps at 240 Volts AC and 48/32 Volts DC.
