Improving a good product - this was the principle behind the development of the Schurter TA36 thermal circuit breaker. Based on the TA35, which has been successfully proven for many years, a refreshing product with a contemporary look was developed.

No longer only functionality and quality matter. Today, a good product must also withstand the critical gaze of a clientele who is accustomed to design.

Refreshing Design
A switch is operated with fingers - sensible sensors. Surfaces and materials are providing a direct feedback, to indicate and feel the quality of a product. Gently curved lines and the best materials combined in the TA36 result in an appealing feeling. Both the flange (3 colours) and the actuator (7 colours) are available in a variety of trendy colours and colour combinations with 5 different types of markings.

Proven Technology
Technically, the TA36 series offers proven technology over years: it is a particularly versatile series of miniature circuit breakers with an especially high UL rating of 277 VAC. It is available as a 1- or 2-pole version and impresses with its compact dimensions.

Wide Range of Applications
The new TA36 offers both the function of an appliance switch and thermal overcurrent protection. Finely graded rated currents from 0.05 A to 20 A are available for 1- and 2-pole circuit breakers. The TA36 switches are designed for efficient snap-in mounting and are equipped with plug-in connections (Quick Connect).

There are almost no limits for the TA36 to find its purpose in various applications: from industrial and medical technology to consumer goods, a TA36 fits almost everywhere.

With the TA35 series, Schurter offers a particularly versatile generation of miniature circuit breakers with a newly attained UL rating of 277 VAC, the North America rating for 1 of 3 phase used in lighting applications and other mains connected 1-phase devices. They are available in 1-, 2- or 3-pole versions and are especially impressive with their compact and attractive design.

The TA35 offers both the function of a ON/OFF switch and thermal overcurrent protection. Finely graduated rated currents are available from 0.05 A to 20 A for 1-pole and 2-pole circuit breakers, and 0.05 A to 12 A for 3-pole circuit breakers. An optional protective cover offers an IP 65 degree of protection, making the switch suitable for use in harsh environments exposed to dust and splashing water.

The rocker switch can be supplied with or without illumination in six colours with standard print legends, or customer-specific symbols. The circuit breakers are designed for efficient snap-in mounting in panel thicknesses from 1 to 4 mm. The terminals are quick-connect 6.3 x 0.8 mm.

Applications for the TA35, with its increased rating, are commercial lighting and power distribution. Other 1-phase mains connected applications include power generators, cleaning equipment, laboratory equipment for chemical and medicinal use, or machines for food service or processing.

Technical Data / Approvals
The rated AC voltage according to UL was increased to 277 VAC for all non-illuminated 1-pole and 2-pole versions. The voltage rating according to IEC remains at 240 VAC

Besides the UL508 approval and NEC Class2, the REX12 exclusively meets the requirements of cable protection to EN60204-1. This is possible because the internal fail-safe element in the shape of a blade fuse corresponds to the current rating of the circuit protector in question. Schurter's T9 fuseholder style circuit breaker series is now expanded to include a version for vertical PCB mounting. The new T9-817 model completes the existing range, which includes a horizontal PCB version, and three different panel mount styles. The full range of mounting styles provides a form and fit alternative to equivalent closed fuseholders.

The T9 family of thermal circuit breakers provides an array of mounting styles alternative to industry standard closed fuseholders, including vertical and horizontal mounted PCB types, and three different panel mount styles with quick connect terminals: snap in or nut fastened, including a threaded neck rear-mount style. The newest addition, T9-817 PCB for vertical PCB mounting, reduces assembly costs and saves board space, by eliminating assembly hardware and wires. It sports a slim design and a small cylindrical push-to-reset button, which protrudes minimally through the panel opening. A spring pushes the button out further when the device trips.

Circuit breakers are an ideal alternative to fuses, since fuses are known to age, due to pulse or high surge currents, and thus trip prematurely. Circuit breakers prevent unnecessary down time by eliminat-ing the need for fuse replacement, as well as the associated risk of inadvertently inserting a fuse with the incorrect current rating. The T9 series thermal circuit breaker is therefore intended as an alternative to 5x20 or 6.3x32 mm fuses used with closed fuseholders.

Typical applications for circuit breakers include power supplies, UPS systems, PDUs, electric tools, mo-tor drive applications, medical diagnostic equipment, commercial kitchen appliances, lighting fixtures, HVAC products as well as equipment for sports and leisure activities. The T9 series is also available on request with glow-wire tested (GWT) materials and is therefore suitable for unattended household appli-ances. The T9 product line conforms to UL 1077, CSA C22.2 235 and IEC 60934 standards. It is cURus, VDE and CCC approved.

Schurter now offers its popular TA35 thermal circuit breaker with a new antibacterial protective cover, type CZM25.  This allows the TA35 to be used in applications designed to thwart the spread of bacteria, such as equipment used in medical and laboratory facilities, as well as food production plants.

The antibacterial effectiveness of the cover has been tested and confirmed according to ISO 22196, particularly the protection against the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria strains. Additionally, the silver ions contained in the protective cover prevent the growth of numerous other organisms.

The circuit breaker combined with the antibacterial cover is ideal for use in equipment where hygiene plays an important role, including equipment subjected to rigorous wash downs. The transparent antibacterial cover on the TA35 carries an IP65 rating to protect against the ingress of water and dust. It also withstands the use of common cleaning agents and disinfectants.
