Hylec-APL has expanded on its already wide range of cable glands with the introduction of the Kwik Fix range. Designed for use in applications where access to the interior of a bulkhead or enclosure is restricted, the Kwik Fix can be used to form a quick, IP68 connection. Especially suitable for use with Switch Cabinets and cooling and heating systems, the Kwik Fix can reduce installation time which will increase profitability.
Traditional dome topped cable glands are ideal for creating a simple and secure entry point for bulkheads and enclosures. Secured from the inside using a locking nut they form an IP68 seal which a cable can be simply passed through. However, when access to the inside is restricted installation time can be greatly increased and it may even be necessary to adopt specialist tooling or, if the panel is large, 2 people would be required to assemble the glands into position.
The Kwik Fix cable gland from Hylec-APL is installed by placing the mounting foot of the gland through the entry hole. The mounting foot is designed with a lip that can pulled tight against the inner wall; an external hexagonal locking nut is then turned anti-clockwise to hold the gland in place and form an IP68 seal. Once locked in place you can install the corresponding cable in the traditional manner; tightening the top dome nut in a clockwise direction.
This means that the gland can be easily mounted and dismounted from one side making installation and maintenance far simpler. The gland can be fitted onto entries where the wall thickness is between 1mm and 4mm and the waterproof solutions can operate safely in temperatures between -20 degrees C and 100 degrees C.
Terry Spriggs, Product Marketing Manager, for Hylec-APL: “While traditional cable glands are ideal solutions for many electrical installations, we realise that every application has its own unique consideration which is why we stock many entry solution components; from grommets to ATEX rated glands. The Kwik Fix adds a further dimension to our cable gland range, offering easy installation for applications that would be traditionally awkward.”
Hylec-APL has a dedicated sales team that are experts in the field of electrical components. Understanding that OEM’s and installers don’t have the time to research every component for the perfect solution they hold a large stock profile in the UK and will happily give guidance and help to source the ideal solution for most applications.

V-Lock Cord Retaining System
This V-Lock system by Schurter is an attractive and simple solution to prevent an unintentional unplugging. Various different connectors, Power Entry Modules and several country-specific power cables are available with this option.
.
The V-Lock locking system can be used for 10A and 16A power inlets and connectors according to IEC 60320. This system works in such a way that there is a pin in the socket, interlocking with a notch in the plug and thus prevents an unintentional pullout of the power cable. The advantage of this system is that there is no need for a specific socket system or retaining device that has to be adapted and built-in.
The locking is released by pressing on the releasing lever. This lever is easily detected by its bright yellow colour and thus distinguishes this system from existing power cable connections. The extraction force is a minimum of 200 N. Typical applications are in medical appliances,
analysis and laboratory instruments, Telecom and IT- devices, power distribution or radio and TV-studios.
.
USP's: - prevents unintentional disconnection
- increased safety and reliablility
- most cost effective cord retaining solution on market
- attractive design
- easy to use
The following connector types can be manufactured with the V-Lock option in series:
6010, 6061, GSP1, GSP2, DF11, 6600-3, 6600-4, 6610, 4797
