Super Time-Lag SMD ceramic fuse with selective tripping characteristic
• Suitable as a Fail Safe Device
• Very high melting integral
• Precisely defined melting times (min/max)
• Compact construction
With the UMT-W, Schurter launches a pulse-proof SMD ceramic fuse with super time-lag tripping characteristics, which is particularly suitable as a fail-safe device in demanding applications.
The cuboid shaped (5.3 x 16 mm), extremely compact SMD fuse is available in five rated currents from 5 A to 20 A and reaches rated voltages of up to 125 V AC&DC with a breaking capacity of up to 1000 A. All these you get with a super slow and precisely defined melting characteristic unique for SMD fuses.
Applications
The Schurter UMT-W is recommended wherever high inrush currents flow (e.g. motor control systems). The UMT-W is particularly suitable for applications with long cables (e.g. avionics), which are often primarily protected by an electronic fuse. If this monitoring fails, or does not perform its task correctly, the UMT-W takes over as a fail-safe device and transfers the system to a safe, currentless state. Due to the precise melting times with its precisely defined min/max corridor at 4xIn, robust and selective safety concepts can be implemented on top of the electronic fuse.
COTS+ The UMT-W fuse is a "COTS+" product. The "+" comes from extended fuse qualification tests (e.g. AEC-Q200) and highly controlled manufacturing processes, which are available to all SCHURTER customers. For higher reliability requirements, we also offer visual inspection according to MIL-PRF 55342, different types of up-screenings (burn-in) and detailed test reports on request.

High Performance Fuse For Automotive Applications
• Very high rated current up to 50 A
• Safely interrupting 1000 VDC
• Versatile mounting options
With the AEO 10.3x38, SCHURTER launches a high-performance fuse for particularly high voltages up to 1000 VDC and currents up to 50 A, which is particularly suitable for automotive applications.
High voltages and high currents occur in electric vehicles in numerous places. Their battery packs with several thousand rechargeable cells store enormous amounts of energy. This in order to meet customer requirements concerning driving performance and range by still providing the shortest possible recharging times. To safeguard this level of power, you need highly reliable high power fuses. Such fuses are required, for example, in the BMS (Battery Management System), for on-board and off-board chargers, DC-DC converters and other systems exposed to high voltages.
Welding Is More Reliable
A weak point of every fuse is the connection between the melting wire and the contact cap. This connection is usually done by a solder joint. In the fuse production process, however, this technology brings quite many difficulties. Creating the connection by welding increases the reliability by far. SCHURTER uses a new, patented process which guarantees highest reliability.
Versatile Mounting Options
The new fuses of the AEO series offer a multitude of possible mounting options. In addition to the cartridge fuse, which requires a fuse clip (recommended model: SCHURTER CSO) and the classic mounting directly on a printed circuit board, screwable version for surface mounting or even axial mounting are available.
Applications Automotive:
DC/DC Converter, On Board Charger, Battery Management System, PTC-Heater and Houshold Charging Stations.

Chip Fuse for Highest Demands
* Pulse- and temperature-resistant non-aging chip fuse
* Sealed against potting compound
* Meets requirements according to AECQ
With the UAI 1206, Schurter offers a pulse and temperature resistant chip fuse with time-lag characteristics for applications where durability and maximum reliability are requested.
Conventional fuses have a sort of memory. If they are exposed to pulse-shaped current peaks and high temperature fluctuations, their properties change. Every pulse makes the fuse a little weaker, every temperature fluctuation a little more susceptible. Not so with the Schurter UAI 1206.
Pulse and Temperature Resistance
Because of the a special fuse construction, dubbed by SCHURTER as “trace in air” technology, the UAI’s ability to resist current pulses smaller than the melting integral (I2t) is thereby increased exponentially. Comparably, the UAI 1206 has practically no derating to the usual extent. The ingenious design of the fuse body also dampens temperature fluctuations to a high degree. The SCHURTER UAI 1206 is also hermetically sealed against potting compound for use in intrinsically safe applications.
Areas of Application
The new chip fuse, which is offered in two versions with rated currents of 5.3 A and 7.5 A, was specificially developed for automotive applications. The Schurter UAI 1206 meets all requirements according to AEC-Q200. It is also suitable wherever high levels of pulse currents, high thermal fluctuations, and high mechanical loads are present.
