Schurter expands the UMT-H range with the rated currents 20A, 25A and 30A. They are now available from stock.
The compact SMD fuse UMT-H stands out with its high breaking capacity. With its square, compact design, it is the space saving alternative to classic cylindrically shaped cartridge fuses (e.g. 5x20 mm) and also suited for more cost-effective, automated assembly. Furthermore, SCHURTER is going to extend the UMT-H range this year by the rated currents 63 mA, 80 mA, 100 mA and 125 mA.

The fuseholder standard IEC/EN 60127-6 has been revised to improve fire safety. Effective in October 2017, manufacturers of fuseholders will only be permitted to market products that have been tested and authorized in accordance with the updated standard. Schurter will offer its customers upgraded solutions by the deadline.
Requirements defined for the household appliance standard IEC 60335-1 are also being applied to the fuseholder standard IEC 60127-6. So the requirement with regard to the glow-wire resistance of the material is being increased. Schurter has planed the adaption of the products and its requalifying
and is currently deploying it. That means used materials has to be tested and if necessary replaced with new glow-wire resistant material. Thus these components can be used in unattended electrical household appliances after the change-over.
Besides the fuseholders, IEC appliance inlets and power entry modules with and without EMC filters are also affected if they have a fuse drawer. The order number of the products are not touched. Therefore manufactures using Schurter products do not have to change the approvals.

Schurter, a leading provider of fuseholders, expands its CSO heavy duty fuse clip family with a cost-effective tin-plated version. The CSO clip, designed for 10.3 mm diameter fuses, is suitable for applications with voltages up to 1500 VAC/VDC and currents to 32A. These unique characteristics are SCHURTER’s response to the increasing photovoltaic system voltage requirements.
The CSO clip is available in solder and screw/rivet versions. The solder version allows direct mounting on a printed circuit board by means of through-hole technology. The screw/rivet version provides additional flexibility for basic designs. Due to the special copper alloy all versions are characterized by a strong clamping force resulting in minimal power loss.
The CSO fuse clip is ideal for a wide range of PV and other DC applications including inverters, battery charge controllers, and string fuse holders. Furthermore, the CSO is well suited for applications in the e-mobility and industrial electronics sectors. The fuse clip conforms to RoHS specifications and is currently the only photovoltaic clip on the market with cURus approval.
Schurter also offers the ASO 10.3x38 PV fuse to fit the new CSO fuse clip. The fuse clip also supports other fuses with a 10.3 mm diameter of any length. This includes, for instance, 10.3x85 mm fuses for higher voltages.

Compact, High Performance Fuse is Optimal for Intrinsically Safe Applications
Schurter's Universal Modular fuse, UMT-H, offers a 1500 A breaking capacity at rated voltages of 277 VAC / 250 VDC. The compact, high performance fuse now has VDE approval in addition to UL approval. This time-lag fuse provides overcurrent and short circuit protection in various industrial control applications, including intrinsically safe applications.
The "intrinsic safety" method is one of the most common techniques used for achieving safety protection with lower voltage or power equipment. This method restricts the available electrical and thermal energy in a system so that ignition of a hazardous atmosphere (such as explosive gas, dust, or electrical arcing) cannot occur. The UMT-H's high breaking capacity of 1500 A, plus the >10 mm spacing between end caps, combined with the ability to be impermeable to conformal coating makes the fuse suitable for use in such intrinsically safe applications.
The UMT-H fuse is available in a total of 19 rated currents between 160 mA and 10 A at voltages up to 277 VAC and 250 VDC. The UMT-H measures at 5.3 x 16 mm, which is a smaller alternative to the classic cylindrically-shaped cartridge fuses (e.g. 5 x 20 mm). The smaller footprint saves valuable board space, allowing for further downsizing of equipment. With its square design, the UMT-H is also suited for more cost-effective, automated assembly. The high breaking capacity fuse meets the IEC 60127-7/1, UL 248-14 and CSA C22.2 standards along with its VDE and UL approvals.
