Schurter’s series USI 1206 Universal Modular Fuse (UMF) is an IEC quick-acting (F) fuse in a surface mount chip fuse package. It is approved according to IEC 60127-4/2 VDE, and bears international approvals by cURus, METI and CCC.
The fuse series has high melting I2t values, which provides greater withstand against high inrush or pulse currents. Its opening time compares to 1206 time-delay types according to UL in lower overcurrent conditions. Conversely, the fuse responds very quickly to higher overcurrents in the event of a fault condition. Current ratings range from 0.5 to 6.3 A with voltage ratings of 63 VDC and 32 VAC. The device has a breaking capacity of 63 A at rated voltages and an operating temperature range of - 55°C to + 90°C.
The USI provides optimal secondary overcurrent protection in power inverters and low-voltage power supplies in an extremely small package 1206 (3.2 mm x 1.6 mm x 0.6 mm). It is also ideal for protection of integrated display and storage subsystems, portable medical devices and sensor-rich in-car electronics where reliability of performance is critical. The thin film technology process used to produce the fuse yields very predictable and stable performance results, as each fuse passes through the testing procedure in order to qualify for use in the most sensitive electronic systems.
The device supports lead (Pb)-free soldering in reflow, or vapour phase processes and is RoHS compliant. It is supplied on tape either with 1k, 5k or 15k pieces. Each fuse is marked for clear visual identification.

IP56 or IP65 compliant: suits medical, automotive and outdoor power equipment
Cherry Electrical Products has announced a new range of sealed, waterproof rocker and pushbutton switches with a wide choice of pole, throw and switch options, making them suitable for a huge range of applications, from vehicles and outdoor machinery to medical devices. There are eight different designs in the new product family - seven rocker switches and one pushbutton switch, all certified to IP56 and IP65 requirements for water and dust resistance. These competitively-priced switches are available in numerous AC/DC ratings and are RoHS compliant.
The round rocker switches, designated the KD and KC series, are IP56 rated and designed to fit panel cut-outs of 0.795in (20.20mm) diameter. The KC series has SPST function and is available with red or black actuators, while the KD series is available in two versions: DPST and DPDT. Both are available lit if required and can handle DC and AC loadings, with quick connect 0.187in (4.76mm) terminals. Electrical ratings include 16A 125VAC, 10A 250VAC (UL), 20A 14VDC and 10A 28VDC for both series, with an additional specification of 10(4)A 250V (VDE) in the KC single pole, single throw series.
The KR series are miniature rocker switches for panel cut-outs of approximately 0.780in by 0.512in (19.80 x 13.00 mm). Available in single pole single throw and double pole, double throw versions with 0.18in (4.75mm) quick connect terminals, the KR series has an IP65 protection rating and is available in four different AC and DC electrical ratings: 16A 125VAC 1/3HP;10A 250VAC 1/2 HP (UL); 20A 14 VDC and 10A 28VDC.
There are four different series of larger oblong rocker switches in different actuator styles, all with an IP56 protection rating and with 1.250in (6.35mm) quick connect terminals. The KS Series, in black only, is designed for on-off or on-on functions in SPST, SPDT, DPST and DPDT versions. The KG series is available in eight different switch functions and three different electrical ratings: 20A 125VAC; 10A 250VAC (UL) and 21A 14VDC. All have quick connect, screw or solder terminal options. If an application requires an illuminated switch, there are two different styles available: the KM series with an oval actuator with either red or green lenses for panel cut-outs of approximately 1.449in x 0.83in (36.80mm x 21.2mm); and the KT series for slightly smaller panel cut-outs of 1.45in x 0.60in (36.8mm x 15.2mm).
For applications requiring a round pushbutton solution, the KF series offers plenty of choice – it is available in five different ratings, both AC and DC, and in SPST and DPST versions. The quick connect terminal option is 0.18in (4.75mm). With a protection rating to IP65, the KF series is available in an illuminated version if required, to fit panel cut-outs of approximately 0.795in (20.20mm).

Schurter’s original IEC 60127-4 Universal Modular Fuse, series UMT 250, is now offered in a convenient package to simplify fuse replacement. The new fuse and fuseholder combination, dubbed the UMZ 250, provides high performance overcurrent circuit protection in primary or secondary circuits. The compact and leadless unit also provides assembly advantages over conventional through-hole fuse blocks and clips. The low profile facilitates increased production speed, especially with assembly processes using automated pick and place systems.
Current ratings for the fuse with fuse clips range from .315 mA to 4 A. The stand-alone fuse UMT 250 includes twenty two current ratings, ranging from 80 mA to 10A. Voltage ratings are 250 VAC and 125 VDC according to IEC and 277 VAC and 250 VDC according to UL. The fuse opens according to IEC 60127-4 time-lag characteristic. Rated breaking capacity is up to 200A, which is desired for a wide range of primary circuit protection including power supplies, AC/DC converters, IT equipment, consumer electronics, battery chargers and health care devices. It is also ideal for secondary circuit protection in PC Cards, DC Motors, I/O Cards, and FET Protection, which require lower voltages.
The UMZ 250 has gold plated caps for the purposes of the initial reflow soldering to the PCB. The UMT 250 fuse with tin-plated caps can be used to replace the original fuse. They are available in plastic bags of 100 pieces or tape and reel.

One SMD fuse for use in both primary and secondary circuits streamlines processes
Schurter announces several new current ratings to its already popular UMT 250 series, for a total of twenty two unique ratings from 80mA to 10A. The series is designed to provide overcurrent and short-circuit protection in both primary and secondary circuits. The versatile one package solution streamlines design, procurement and automated assembly processes.
The UMT 250 maximizes circuit protection while its extremely compact size meets the demand for saving space and facilitating production. It can be mounted on both sides of the printed circuit board. Its low profile increases production rates when mounted with pick and place assembly machines. It is an ideal substitute for axial and radial leaded through-hole fuses where bending leads can cause assembly delays.
The Universal Modular Fuse (UMF) is time-lag (T) characteristic. It is rated at 250 VAC and 125 VDC, according to IEC and 277VAC and 250 VDC, according to UL. The series has a high breaking capacity of up to 200A at rated voltage. It is RoHS compliant and carries all the main approvals such as VDE, UL Listing, cURus, PSE Jet (Japan), CCC (China) and KTL (Korea). Applications include protection of power supplies, storage systems, wireless base stations and many other electronic systems.
