Metal Line Switches with Homogeneous Ring- or Area Illumination

Schurter expands its Metal Line switch series to include an illuminated 16 mm version. The compact mechanical push button switch provides a sleek look accentuated with a quality homogeneous illumination in a ring style, or complete surface area illumination. Illumination color options include red, blue, green, yellow and white. The standard supply voltage for the illumination is 24 VDC.

The new 16 mm MSM features a housing made of stainless steel with a mechanical actuator for tactile feedback. The robust anti-vandal design, with IP67 seal protection and IK07 impact resistance ratings, makes it especially suited for use in harsh environments. Additionally, the new 16 mm MSM includes signal switches designed for voltages of up to 30 VDC at 100 mA. The power switches are rated up to 250 VAC at 10 A, making the switches particularly versatile when it comes to panel designs combining both power and signal switches.

Schurter expands its MSM Metal Line range with a pushbutton switch series capable of multiple illumination possibilities. The illumination provides a homogeneous quality in a ring illuminated style, or complete actuator area illumination. Status indication is possible in 7 different colors in a single product.

The setting of the individual colors is particularly easy to realize by means of the wire connectors, which are conveniently coded. Three flat plug connectors are used to control the colors red, green and blue. By combining several flat plug connectors, the additive colors cyan, magenta, yellow or white can be created.

The new MSM Multicolor family offers the same diameters as the standard ring illuminated version in 19, 22 and 30 mm. The switches with area illumination use a scratch resistant ceramic actuator and have housings with diameters of 19 or 22 mm. Housings are made of robust stainless steel for both ring and area illuminated versions.

High seal protection and impact resistance ratings of IP67 and IK07, make the switches particularly suitable for use in equipment subjected to harsh environmental conditions, or applications that require protection from vandalism.

The MSM series provides a moving actuator, which is ideal for use in applications where both status indication and tactile feedback are desired. In addition to the MSM series, as well the MCS series also with a mechanical actuator, SCHURTER's piezoelectric (PSE) and capacitive (CPS) switches include options for multicolor illumination. Through a complete offering, Schurter provides various technologies in metal line pushbutton switches for a host of specific applications.

Bulgin’s best selling ranges of standard and miniature rocker switches, push button switches, double pole splash resistant switches and splash/dust covers will be manufactured with BioCote’s silver ion technology during the moulding process moulded to produce the world’s first antimicrobial electronic components. The antimicrobial ranges present OEMs with a distinctive new feature which offers a key point of end equipment differentiation and significantly enhances the benefits to the end user or the product.

Integrating BioCote® at the point of manufacture provides in-built antimicrobial protection for the life span of the component part, reducing microbes including bacteria mould and fungi by up to 99.9%. Schurter is launching its new series of momentary and latching push button switches with capacitive touch sensor technology inside. With this new product family, SCHURTER enters the
latest technology trend in push button products on the market, while incorporating new and innovative features. With their elegant and modern look, these products are the perfect choice
where ever a high quality-aesthetic appearance plays a role. Besides a predefined standard offering, there are many visual and functional options available to choose from. These features
allow the customer to adapt the push button, or the switch in general, to their individual electrical and mechanical requirements.

The new CPS family of switches from SCHURTER is available with 16 mm, 19 mm and 22 mm diameter housings. The series is made of high-grade stainless steel. The CPS uses capacitive sensor technology, whereby a touch of the finger on the sensor area causes a change in the electrical field which in turn causes the switch to change its state; this occurs without any pressure on the actuator. The capacitive touch technology eliminates the need for any moving parts, hence making the CPS a long-life product capable of an unlimited number of actuations. The design of the CPS has a high-end look and elegant appearance as it is well-known to SCHURTER’s Metal Line. The CPS actuator expands further on actuation options with a so-called finger guide, which is designed to enhance the user experience.

The customer can choose from a wide range of illumination options, starting with the selection of a ring illuminated or area illuminated version. The area illuminated version is made of scratch-resistant biocompatible ceramics. The customer then selects a single color, bi-color, or multicolor configuration. Besides the basic colors red, green, and blue, the CPS also offers additive colors like cyan, magenta, yellow, and white for custom color variations.

Besides a set of predefined standard variations, the CPS can easily be customized to specific customer requirements by simply choosing from a list of options in the configurator list provided
in the data sheet. Further customer specific adaptions, which are not listed in the data sheet, can be requested as well. With standard and customized options, the CPS is suitable for many
different applications in various industry sectors, like industrial automation, food processing, lab equipment, door and access control panels, white goods, various electronic equipment, just to name a few.

The Schurter voltage selector assortment is newly equipped with the Europe-wide harmonized ENEC approval mark, which is intended to facilitate an open and easier entry to the European
market. Furthermore, the UR and CSA certificates of the types SWA, SWM and SWP have been consolidated to the cURus certificate. These voltage selector types are now up to date with the
harmonized certificate for Europe, as well as the consolidated certificate for North America and Canada.

For use in equipment used internationally, Schurter’s voltage selectors take into consideration the country-specific mains voltage. The assortment of four different voltage selector configurations is perfectly suited to provide several voltage levels for analog power supplies, medical devices and highclass audio amplifier, or any other international installations using current supplied by a transformer.

Designed for rotary style switching, these voltage selectors either panel mount, with solder wire connections, or PCB mount depending on the type. Markings can be customized.

The four voltage selector variations offer configurations for either series or series-parallel circuits. The SWM and SWP are wired in series for use as step switches. The SWA and SWZ can be wired to switch between series and/or parallel circuits.

Now with 16 A switching current at 250 VAC

Schurter’s MSM LA and MSM LA CS latching-action stainless steel and ceramic surface pushbutton switches are now available with a maximum rated switching current of 16 A at 250 VAC, uprated from 12 A. Designed for primary ON/OFF switching, the up-rating on the MSM LA and LA CS expands on their suitability for use in appliances with higher loads.

Metal line switches are especially well suited for use in equipment operated in harsh environments, or applications that require protection against vandalism, such as vending machines, ticket machines, food service equipment, public facilities, and sanitary facilities. SCHURTER’s existing MSM LA and MSM LA CS series have proven especially well suited for such applications, with a rated temperature range of -20 °C to +85 °C, impact resistance rating of IK 07, and an ingress protection rating of IP 64 from the front contact area.

Application areas for the MSM LA and MSM LA CS are expanded, as a result of the increased 16 A rat-ing. These application areas include: various electric machinery, such as conveyors and lifts, medical chairs and surgical tables, oxygenators and aspirators, as well as commercial appliances, such as heat-ers and humidifiers, food processors and coffee mills.

Schurter’s MSM LA series offers a classic stainless steel actuator, with optional point or ring illumi-nation, while the MSM LA CS series offers SCHURTER’s innovative scratch resistant backlit ceramic surface. The LED supply voltage is 24 VDC. The multi-faceted pushbuttons are available with mounting diameters of 19 and 22 mm, and equipped with blade terminals for quickly affixing wires: the pre-assembled cable set is plugged into the quick-connect terminals of the microswitch, which is then snapped into the switch housing. The MSM LA and MSM LA CS series switches comply with the EU low voltage directive, IEC 61058-1 and UL 1054 standards. The microswitches are ENEC, UL, CSA and CQC approved.
