E Preston Electrical Expands Franchises and Goes Online

January 1, 2021

E. Preston (Electrical) Ltd was established in 1980 as a specialist distributor of switches and electrical components.  Beginning with only 3 franchises the company currently has over 40 different franchises and holds approximately half a million pounds worth of stock.

Now in the third generation of family ownership E Preston Electrical continues to grow and build on traditional values.

“We work hard for our customers to get the best products at the best prices while providing exceptional customer service.  We always do what we say we will, even if that is just a call back,” says Mark Preston, MD.

This is a principle that was rooted in the business from its inception over 30 years ago by founder, and grandfather to the current directors, Ernest Preston.

Although there is still a great emphasis on these traditional values the company has embraced new technology in all of its business operations and now launches a new digital venture.  The new interactive e-shop eprestononline.co.uk is aimed at increasing accessibility to existing and new customers.

“We have access to the latest technology from our suppliers,” says Matthew Preston, sales director. “We want to make dealing with E Preston as easy as possible.  We will continue to visit new and existing customers, and speak to them on the telephone, but with eprestononline we can offer them access to our company whenever they want.”

Click AwayThe new eShop will allow customers to log in to their own portal to view orders, print off documents such as acknowledgements and invoices, and allows them to place repeat orders.  Data sheets and supplier catalogues will also be readily available.

The company believes it maintains its position as a traditional company - or more appropriately, a modern company with traditional values.

December 31, 2020

E. Preston (Electrical) Ltd announces its 40th anniversary as a specialist distributor of switches and electrical components.

E Preston was established by its original founder Ernest Preston, from which the company gained its name. It began with three people and only three franchises. The company quickly grew and has maintained healthy growth over the last 40 years. Now into the third generation of family ownership, the company employs 20 people and has over 50 franchises, consisting of 100,000s of parts.

Since its inception in 1980, the company has not only grown its offering but also its customer base too. Customers range from sole traders to major PLCs in every sector from transport, defence, and medical to refrigeration, vending and renewable energy. The reason for its continued growth and success is because of its emphasis on the customer.

Schurter FMBC EP 3-Phase Mains Filter

December 22, 2020

Schurter Logo1.jpg

FMBC EP 3-Phase Mains Filter
• Compact design with minimal footprint
• Double-stage filter with high attenuation
• Variants for high voltage applications
• Wide temperature range

Schurter introduces the FMBC EP double-stage filter family for 3 phase systems. Thanks to its particularly compact dimensions and high performance, the new filter series is ideally suited for the tight space conditions in today's machine and industrial plant construction. Due to versions with high nominal voltages, a particularly wide field of applications is possible.

Space is scarce in control cabinets for industrial applications in the 3-phase range. Schhurter has addressed this problem with another complete filter redesign, which is much more compact than previous generations. The new, almost cuboidal design makes optimum use of the space in the housing. Thanks to a double-stage filter and the use of the highest quality components (generously dimensioned film capacitors, chokes with highly permeable cores), the new development shines with exceptional broadband filter attenuation.

Suitable for High EMC Emissions
The double-stage filter family is therefore also appropriate for applications with particularly high EMC emissions, as is frequently encountered in industry. Typical applications include machines and systems for automatic production, motor drives and industrial plant machinery. These powerful filters are also the first choice for modern frequency inverters for motor control.

Mounting
The FMBC EP series features screw terminals for absolutely safe wiring. Thanks to the metal flange, an excellent earth connection is ensured when screwed to the chassis.

Wide Temperature and Voltage Range
The standard types can be used over a wide temperature range from -40 °C to 100 °C. The filters are designed for currents from 16 A to 230 A at an ambient temperature of 50 °C. They have both ENEC and cURus approval and are recommended for applications up to 520 VAC or even 760 VAC.

Leakage Current
The standard versions are designed for industrial applications with leakage currents <4 mA. Special variants with leakage currents <1 mA are available for leakage current critical applications.

Applications
• Industrial equipment, machines
• Robotics
•Motor drive applications
•Machine tools
• Energy inverters

The completely redesigned FMBC EP models are the ideal replacement for all types of Schurter FMBC and FMBC NEO filters. They offer identical performance with significantly reduced dimensions and weight.

Sensata (Cynergy3) FSU Series Flow Detection Switch

December 14, 2020

Cynergy3_logo.jpg

Sensata is pleased to announce the Cynergy3 FSU Series Flow Detection Switch.

FSU Series switches have industry standard process connection sizes (push fit or NPT thread) that give a quick and reliable method of installation. The FSU Series of pre-set switches uses a reliable and robust reed switch design for operation. This family is NSF-61 certified and therefore meets the stringent requirements for the control of equipment that comes in contact with potable water.

These flow switches are designed for use in liquid flow systems at pressures up to 10 bar and temperatures up to 85ºC. The switches are supplied with a standard wire length and flow rate set points, but can be customized to suit customer needs.

Why the FSU?
Wherever there is a need to detect the flow of fluid there may be a requirement for a flow switch. To list all areas where this is applicable to the FSU is prohibitive. However the FSU will be used as either a process
control device or system protection device. The FSU is compact, reliable and has very little pressure drop across the switch due to its design, and more cost effective compared to its competitors.

Typical examples of usage are, heater element protection, pump run dry protection, server room cooling flow failure detection or industrial or domestic water supply leak detection.

Applications:
- Circulation pump protection
- Leak detection
- Flow sensing
- Mains water control
- Dispensing Equipment
- Cooling system for electronic equipment (Laser Heads, Welding machine, X-Ray Tubes, Semiconductor Equipment)
- Processing Equipment, Water Purifications and Filtering, Distilling
- Presses, Rotating Equipment, Conveyors, Machine Tools, Robotics

Features:
• NSF-61 approved
• Power ratings 25 VA
• Wide connection range
• Fast switching, allowing precise control
• Compact in-line design
• High life expectancy
