Schurter C20F Appliance Inlet with Filter

February 24, 2020

Schurter Logo1.jpg

• Variants with ground choke
• Highly resistant - fully potted
• Interrupts ground loops
• V-Lock cord retention

Schurter extends its successful power entry module series C20F with versions including a ground line choke, designed for suppressing high-frequency interference on the ground conductor. Additionally, the new variants have a bigger X-capacitor for better symmetrical attenuation.

The C20F filter series combines an IEC C20 appliance inlet with a high-quality mains filter. The particularly wide metal flange makes contact with the housing surface over a large area, thus enabling optimum filtering and shielding.

Ground Choke
New variants of the C20F appliance inlet filters are equipped with a ground choke. The line filters have a second choke on the earth conductor in addition to the current-compensated choke on the pole and neutral conductor. The ground choke is located between the device plug and the filter output. Placing it directly at the mains input ensures that possible high-frequency interference currents on the earth conductor cannot bypass the filter via the housing. Medical filters in particular (no Y-capacitors) benefit from improved asymmetrical attenuation in the higher frequency range due to the ground choke.

Applications
The C20F filter series is available as standard or medical version and is used in devices that require a particularly high noise immunity. These include IT or telecom systems according to IEC 92368-1 and medical devices according to IEC 60601-1. The series is compatible with V-Lock device connection cables.

The C20F series is certified for currents up to 16 A / 250 VAC according to IEC standard and 20 A according to UL/CSA standard at 125/250 VAC. It provides ENEC, CQC and cURus approvals.

ZF Energy Harvesting Switch Solutions Technology

February 12, 2020

Self-Sufficient RF Transmission of Switch Signals Without Battery and Wires.

Energy Harvesting Switch Solutions Technology is an energy harvesting switch which reacts to its environment without a need for energy. This solution developed by ZF is based on the principle of Energy Harvesting and does not require any wires. Energy Harvesting can be described as an ‘operation without any auxiliary energy’. Instead of generating auxiliary energy through an integrated energy source or adding it via an external energy supply, energy that is available in the surrounding environment or that is acting on the system is converted. Therefore an Energy Harvester generally speaking is an energy converter.

The wireless RF switch system from ZF based on an energy harvester transforms the mechanical input energy of the actuation into electrical energy, which then transmits, for example, a switching signal to a wireless receiver via RF electronics. The advantages of the system are that the switch can be placed anywhere without the need for any wires. Over its whole life cycle it will fulfill its function completely maintenance free and without any need to replace a battery. The RF switch is fed with different input parameters and is capable of reacting to its environment.

The energy harvesting RF-switches from ZF can be used in a variety of applications such as industrial automation and building automation, smart home or medical technology. Designed for global use, the switches provide an excellent alternative to wired or battery-powered systems.

System Advantages:
Reduction of connection systems
Flexibility for inaccessible locations
No complex wire assembly
Maintenance-free – no batteries need to be changed
Network-compatible
High energy efficiency
Long mechanical life
Flexible “Pairing” allows the operation of several receivers with one switch (and vice versa)
Unique ID excludes a mutual interference between different RF-switches

Sensata ACW4 / TCW4 Hall Effect Sensors

January 27, 2020

Sensata Technologies, an industrial technology company and a leading provider of sensors, today announced the availability of the new ACW4 Single Turn and TCW4 Multi Turn Absolute Hall Effect Sensors, which feature an over-molded, two-part modular construction that provides engineers with exceptional design flexibility.

The sensing electronics are encased in a thermoplastic polyamide shell while the separate activating magnet is external to the sensor assembly. This modular architecture results in a compact package of only 50mm in diameter by a maximum 24mm thick that allows designers to easily incorporate the ACW4 and TCW4 sensors into both new and existing systems. An over-molded housing completely encapsulates the electronics and seals the cable entry from exposure to the elements, making this IP67-rated sensor an ideal solution for robotic, industrial, manufacturing and material handling applications where dusty or wet conditions are common.

To help save time and cost, Sensata offers a variety of engineered magnet holder accessories that developers can use instead of designing and testing their own. A variety of output types are available to ensure that the ACW4 or TWC4 sensors can interface with the most common controllers. Unlike typical Hall effect sensors, which rely on a shaft to operate, there are no moving parts in contact with each other; eliminating any potential wear or misalignment.

Schurter Fuse Family UMF 250 - Rated Current Extension

January 6, 2020

Schurter Logo1.jpg

SMD Fuse for Electromobility Applications

• Extended rated current range with 15 A
• Ideal for electromobility applications
• Cycle resistant with quick characteristics
• Halogen-free and RoHS-compliant

The proven UMF 250 SMD fuse family gets extended by a 15 A version. SCHURTER is now offering the UMF 250 in a total of 15 rated currents between 500 mA and 15 A. It is particularly suitable for electromobility applications with higher rated currents.

With its quick characteristics (small melting integral) according to IEC 60127-4, the UMF 250 is the logical addition to the successful UMT 250 range. It is sealed against potting compound to achieve a hermetic seal for use in intrinsically safe applications according to ATEX and IECEx requirements. Thanks to its high cycle stability and minimal temperature derating, it is extremely robust and aging resistant.

Applications
Thanks to its low internal resistance, the UMF 250 is ideally suited for primary and secondary protection on SMD circuit boards. Applications of the UMF 250 include the protection of battery-powered systems with high switch-off capacities of 500 A @ 125 VDC (e.g. electromobility). The fuse is also suitable for primary protection in the AC range, for example in voltage regulator modules and charging stations.

For Lead-Free Soldering Processes
The UMF 250 is a halogen-free and RoHS-compliant fuse for lead-free soldering processes. The solder surface compatibility with the most important competitor products allows Schurter to offer the UMF 250 as a replacement product. The fuse is cURus approved. Available in 100 pcs plastic bag or 2000 pcs tape and reel packaging.
